I was recently in a Holiday Mini card swap and all of the ladies have received theirs by now, so I thought I would share mine.  I’m sorry if you don’t like CAS because that’s what the bulk of my cards are.  I venture into more layered/embellished card-making realms every now and then, but as you’ll see, this one is not too fancy.  I really like it and could easily make it as my Christmas cards as it was pretty easy to duplicate quickly 10 times for the swap.  That’s the beauty of the new Ornament punch and the Big Shot (for the Top Note die layers).

Stamps:  Delightful Decorations (Holiday Mini Catalog), Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:  Kraft and Whisper White CS, Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP (Holiday Mini Catalog)
Ink:  Real Red classic ink
Accessories:  Ornament Punch (Holiday Mini Catalog), SU! Top Note Bigz Die, Big Shot, Silver Elastic Cord (Holiday Mini Catalog), 1/4″ Whisper White Grosgrain ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals

First of all, this is just a little note to let you know that my pre-scheduled posts (started with the post previous to this one) will more than likely not have recipes for the cards.  I’m posting these while out of town and it came down to the wire with packing and getting my van ready for the 10 hour trip to visit my parents in Kentucky.  Once I’m back at my own home, I will be better about the recipes.

This card is one that I again (see previous post) gained inspiration from SCS in creating.  It is a CASE of THIS card by “marlenelo” over there on SCS.  Hers is obviously different colors (mine is Bermuda Bay and Whisper White), and I threw in some textured CS and changed the shape of the sentiment.  You can’t tell, but my sentiment isn’t on a “perfect” rectangle.  I cut it so that the sides weren’t exactly even, but it doesn’t show up too well in this photo.  The image is embossed with white embossing powder.  I really liked the LO of her card.  What do you think?

2nd GSG swap card

Well, this is the other card I made for the 2nd swap group I was in with my fellow GSG gals.  I signed up with Teeny Tiny Wishes and was then kind of like, hmmm….  I didn’t have any great ideas for how to make it be the focal image of my card.  So, since no one had signed up for Animal Stories, I decided to do another stamped BG using a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, and pop an embossed whale from Animal Stories up on the card.  I also stamped a BG using the little whale on the card base, and added some of the yummy new Soft Suede 1/2″ Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon with a 5/16″ Jumbo Brad in Whisper White for a little added detail, and tah-dah!  I hope they like it – making 7 of these hand-stamped sentiment BG’s and cutting out the little embossed whale was NOT quick or easy!!!!!

Stamps:  Animal Stories, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:  Bashful Blue, Soft Suede and Whisper White CS
Ink:  Bashful Blue and Soft Suede classic ink, VersaMark
Accessories:  Clear embossing powder, heat tool, Embossing Buddy, Soft Suede 1/2″ Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon, Word Window and Modern Label punches, 5/16″ Jumbo Brad (Whisper White), Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Tombow Mono Multi Adhesive

GSG Swap

Hi there!  I am feeling pretty horrible.  I didn’t have any posts scheduled so I decided I would go ahead and post this card.  It was due in to the swap coordinator today, so if you want a surprise (you’re in the GSG Catty Preview Swap) – don’t look all the way down.  I have a horrible cold/virus (not sure which) that is making my sinuses burn and I’ve had a headache for going on 3 days along with a cough that makes me wonder if my lungs might be coming up.  Not to mention my husband is deployed and I’ve got 3 little kiddos who want me 100% of the time (that’s their job, right!?! LOL)  and other obligations (which include getting some Stamps in the Mail kits mailed today if at all possible) and you will see that I’m going a little crazy at the moment.  It’s hard to function when your face is burning and your head is about to crack open.   Anyway…all this rambling is because I’m trying to eat up some space so that the whole card at least won’t show on the screen for anyone wanting a surprise in our GSG group.

Speaking of the GSG group – you can check out the blogs of all of the fabulous ladies who are members of it by clicking HERE.  I think that in the near future the two groups are being merged into one, so keep your eyes peeled for that, too.

I signed up for 2 spots in the swap and this card front uses Kind and Caring Thoughts (go figure, huh?  I love this set!).  I think it’s a typical “Marie” card – pretty CAS.  I hope the gals in the swap like it because I always adore their cards.

I used my lovely new Stampin’ Write marker in Melon Mambo and my trusty Old Olive marker to ink the flower.  The sentiment is stamped directly on to the Textured Melon Mambo CS in Melon Mambo classic ink.  I did some distressing of that Old Olive CS layer with my fingernail, and also some paper piercing.  The Old Olive CS is torn using the tearing edge ruler.  I love that tool because when I tear, my CS tends to look uniform in the tear and not random and pretty.  The DSP peeking out is some of the new Raspberry Lemonade DSP.  I used my well-loved Scallop Edge punch to create the scallops on the Old Olive CS that’s along the side of my image and that ribbon is the new Crushed Curry 1/2″ Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon.  I am really loving this new ribbon!!!

Swap Group Card #2

Here’s the 2nd card I made for my SUFriends4Ever Swap Group for the month of May.   Two of the ladies in my group got this card.  It’s basically the same LO as the first card (posted June 11th on my blog) but more of a fun and bright color combination.  I’ve got SO MUCH paper to use before the new catalog comes out.  I don’t know what I am going to do to use it all!!!!!!!!  Both of the cards I made this month used a good-sized piece as the background for just this reason 😉

  Trendy Trees
Paper:  Bashful Blue, Riding Hood Red and Whisper White CS, Washington Apple DSP
Ink:  Summer Sun, Riding Hood Red, Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip classic ink
Accessories:  Bashful Blue gingham ribbon, Riding Hood Red Designer Buttons, Scallop Edge punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Swap Group Card #1

I made this card for a monthly swap group I’m in where we were divided up into groups of 4-5 and we just mail the other gals in our SUFriends4Ever swap group a card that we made that month.  It’s really easy – no themes, and you can just make an extra of whatever you’re making and send it out.  Well, since I hardly stamp anymore with the husband deployed, I am not able to “just make an extra” so mine are actually made specifically for this swap.  Thank goodness it’s only 4 that I have to make, so I can keep up with it.  This time I did 2 and 2.  Two ladies will get this card, and 2 will get the card that I am posting in my next post on Saturday.  To be honest – even though Baja Breeze is my favorite color ever, I like the other card better.  It’s more summery – bright and cheerful.  🙂

In case you hadn’t noticed, the days I tend to post new posts on (unless something comes up that I just have to add in) are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.  It’s working out pretty well for me so far, but I also will have to fill in Saturday with something other than my DT work for Card Patterns since my term is now up.  It will be interesting to see if I can squeeze in some extra stamping when it doesn’t have a “deadline” attached!! 😉

  Pocket Silhouettes
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Kraft and Whisper White CS, Parisian Breeze Specialty DSP
Ink:  Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze classic ink
Accessories:  Scallop Oval punch, Large Oval punch, Scallop Edge punch, Baja Breeze and Kraft Corduroy buttons/brads, Paper Piercing Tool and Template, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Tree Swap Card

A couple of months ago I hosted a swap that originally started out as a “use a stamp set from pages 90-91 in the new SU! IB&C” and it morphed into including those sets and any tree set in the IB&C.  I made this card using the instructions for doing so from Stampin’ Success (a magazine that demonstrators receive free each month from SU!).  It was a fun card to make and would make a GREAT workshop card.  It’s pretty easy to make and it has a little fun surprise of the top panel “swinging” open on the brad that is used as a swivel point.  Anyway, hope you like it!  I do love my little Trendy Trees!!

All supplies used are SU!

Stamps:  Trendy Trees, Thank You Kindly
Paper:  Kraft, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White CS, Not Quite Navy and Chocolate Chip Textured CS
Ink:  Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip classic ink
Accessories:  Stamp-a-Ma-Jig (a MUST with the Trendy Tree set in my opinion!), Kiwi 5/8″ Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Silver Brad, Scallop Edge punch, piercing tool and template
