Hi there!  Some of you may be joining me because you’ve been hoppin’ around the internet checking in with different Stampin’ Addicts to see some fantabulous projects created with Sale-a-Bration items.  I think that the ladies have outdone themselves once again!  The Blog Tour “officially” starts at 12:00 pm EST but most of the stops should be live at 10:00 am EST.  So, if you’re hitting some bumps, check back a little later and it should all work perfectly!!  🙂

If you’re following the Blog Tour, you just came here from stop #6 which was Sharon’s blog Created By You, where she featured Whimsical Words.  Don’t you just love her projects?!?!

My projects will be featuring Whimsical Words as well.  That’s right, you’re supposed to be seeing double – it’s featured twice on the tour!!.  This set is one of the exclusive Sale-a-Bration 2010 stamp sets that will never be seen in an Idea Book & Catalog.  That’s part of what makes Sale-a-Bration stamp sets so special.  That, and they’re FREE!!!  LOL

On Thursday I will tell you some more details about my projects below, and I will also show some additional pictures to explain them a little more thoroughly.  Make sure to check back on Thursday to see how I lined up my butterflies – it’s a really handy trick (as long as you’re using Whisper White CS as your base!!)

The picture you see to the left was my inspiration.  I wanted to make something for my daughter and I used her bedspread for the colors.  She loves what I made her, and of course my other daughter really wants one now too.  I love my girls 🙂  Now I just need a dinosaur punch to make one for my little man!  😉

As I mentioned before, check back on Thursday to see what I did to get my butterflies perfectly lined up.

Stamps: Whimsical Words (Sale-a-Bration 2010)   Paper: Whisper White CS, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry Patterns DSP, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, Sweet Pea DSP (2010 Occasions Mini Catalog)   Ink: Bermuda Bay Classic Ink   Accessories: Fire Circle Rhinestone Brad, Butterfly Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Wooden Frame

And my last project –  a masculine card.  It is my first in a while and I am planning on sending it to my hubby during one of his “trips” overseas for the Air Force:

Stamps: Whimsical Words (2010 Sale-a-Bration)   Paper: Bashful Blue CS, Sending Love Notes – Kisses (2010 Occasions Mini Catalog), Sweet Pea DSP (2010 Occasions Mini Catalog)   Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic Ink   Accessories: Paper Piercing Tool, Template and Pad, 5/16″ Neutrals Jumbo Brad – Chocolate Chip, Stampin’ Dimensionals

If my count is right, there are EIGHTY THREE stamp sets or other items that you get to choose from for this year’s Sale-a-Bration promotion!!!  Never before has SU! offered so many choices for your free item that you earn with every $50 spent.  There’s not even a limit!!  If you spend $150 you get the regular free merchandise and stamp sets as a “hostess” – whether you hold a workshop or not – but you would also get THREE more free items from the SAB brochure!!!!

Now, to see another fabulous array of products made with one of these 83 items, go to stop #8, Cindy’s blog Heart’s Delight Cards, where she will be featuring the super cute Scallop Trim punch that you can earn for FREE!!!  You will love the different ways she has used the punch!  🙂

Enjoy the rest of the Blog Tour and have a GREAT weekend!!!

I got to stamp yesterday with a friend!!!  I finished 3 whole projects – I am a SLOW stamper and add in gabbing with another chica, and it makes for some REALLY slow stamping 😉

I made this little treat packet as the “prototype” for the treats I will have my daughter take in to her class for Halloween.  I pulled the inner tab out a little bit to the right so that you could see that I made a sliding panel so that the kids can just pull it out and have quick, non-ripping-up-the-whole-treat-package-up access to the candy corn inside the sweet treat cup.  Normally the ribbon would be peeking out from the right side of the stamped image – not the Only Orange CS and brad.

Did you know that you get TWELVE of these fantastic sweet treat cups on a package for only $2.95?!?!?  They are a deal and they make adorable packaging for treats of all kinds.

Below you can see the images of the stamps that come in this fabulous stamp set called Sweet Centers (#116521, $29.95).  The Sweet Centers stamp set makes it easy to create ornaments, treat bags, cards, and more. Combine it with the Sizzix® Holiday Windows die and Sweet Treat cups for even greater results!

Have a great day!!!!

Stamps:  Sweet Centers
Paper:  Rich Razzleberry, Only Orange and Whisper White CS
Ink:  Only Orange classic ink
Accessories:  1-3/4″ Circle punch, Black gingham ribbon, silver brad, Sweet Treat cup

Project Dinosaur….

DSCN8209

I don’t usually post my sewing on this blog, unless it involves something SU! oriented, but in this case I was just so excited to complete my first item that required using a pattern.  I make quilts, and follow a pattern, but I have never made an article of clothing.

I LOVE to watch Project Runway and see what the designers are able to make out of the items (not always fabric) that are given to them for the creation of their outfits.  I wish I had even as much talent as they have in their pinky fingers.  For me, getting everything perfectly even and just right is a little too time consuming, and even with my best efforts, I’m not really able to get everything exactly right.  But, I guess there is some beauty in the amount of “go-with-the-flow” opportunities there are when sewing.   You can usually hide the small flaws.

After making Daniel’s PJ pants yesterday, I have 2 more to make for him and 3 each to make for both of my girls.  I don’t think they’ll take as long now that I’ve done it once, and I have my friend Stephanie to thank for showing me how to work with a pattern.

Oh, and I did slide the waist around a little to the left after noticing that the seam on the left was sitting on top of the leg (you’ll notice it in the picture below).  That was just due to how the fabric was bunched on the elastic band in the waist.  I only tacked the band in the back so they move a little around the waist when they’re not on.

Also, Daniel does this funny thing where he crosses his toes, so no, they aren’t permanently like that 😉  My girls do it too.  It must be from their Daddy.  😀

Have a great weekend!!!

If you live in the Dover (Delaware) area, I was given the fabulous idea by Julie Wadlinger to have a class where you make the little bags you see below.

I will also be showing the new My Digial Studio papercrafting software (think digital scrapbooking on steroids!!!  LOL) with those who would like to create one project (a card or single scrapbook LO page) and bring an electronic copy of a picture on CD or zip drive, etc.  You will then be able to order the print of your project through SU!’s fabulous print vendor or you can take it home and print it out how you prefer.

Additionally, you will make a 3×3 Halloween card using some of SU!’s new Halloween stamps from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Let me know if you can join us – seats are limited and there is a RSVP-by date.  I would love to see you here!!

E-mail me at mariemc01@gmail.com

Thanks!!

Blog Tour

Welcome to stop #6 on the Stampin’ Addicts Happy Holidays Blog Hop!  The Happy Holidays Blog Hop will feature sneak peaks of the different stamp sets and accessories available in the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog.   This catalog is available to purchase from on September 1st, and the ladies in this hop are going to make you want to buy everything in it!!  There are 40 jam packed pages of the Holiday Mini Catalog that will fit any of your fall/winter holiday needs; from jewelry to Halloween treats, Christmas gifts and Fall cards, this Mini Catalog has just what you need!

If you have been following the blog hop in order you’ve just seen Sarah’s fabulous creations at Lily’s Ink Pad featuring the new “Haunting Hill” Jumbo Stampin’ Around Wheel.  Aren’t the images on that wheel just perfect for everything spooky?!?!  This hop is a continuous circle, so no matter whether you start here with my blog, or are following the links to the next blog on each person’s post, you’ll be able to see it all.  Let’s get started!!!

DSCN8065

Well, here is a non-Halloween use for the GORGEOUS new Night & Day Specialty Designer Series Paper, that can be found on page 11 of the Holiday Mini Catalog.  I have been begging Stampin’ Up! for black and white Designer Series Paper (DSP) FOREVER, and boy did they make me happy!!!  This paper is SO versatile, and does not have any Halloween specific images on it, so it works fabulously for just about anything shabby chic, elegant, traditional, or _______ – fill in the blank with your style of stamping.  My projects are all a Basic Black, Whisper White, Basic Gray and Melon Mambo palette and these colors were just what I wanted for this little gift set for my daughter’s new 1st grade teacher.

You will see that I used the YUMMY new Shimmer Paint, in Frost White (pg 27), on top of the DSP or the Melon Mambo CS on two of the projects.  When you paint it (using a sponge) on top of the Basic Black patterned DSP (this is the pattern I kept in each of the four projects to tie them all together), it turned it a lovely shade of Basic Gray.  Be sure to click on any photographs that you wish to see close-up and personal – it really shows you the shine of that Shimmer Paint.   A little bit of this Shimmer Paint goes a LONG way.  I used about four drops to completely cover each of the 3 flowers on the little matchbox candy box (front center in the above picture) and to sponge the edges of the Melon Mambo flower on the pencil/pen holder.

DSCN8071

Speaking of the pencil/pen holder….  I used some sticky strip to adhere the DSP to the clean and de-labeled vegetable can.  I then used my Scallop Edge punch to punch the Whisper White border for the top, along with my Paper Piercing Tool (which you can now buy SEPARATELY – YEAH!!) and Paper Piercing Mat.  I adhered it using more Sticky Strip.  I then used my lovely Big Shot to run some Melon Mambo CS and the Night & Day Specialty DSP through with the Flower Layers Originals Die.  I then misted the two flowers and crumpled them up and then flattened them back out and dried them using my Heat Tool.  I followed the drying with some sponging of the Frost White Shimmer Paint on both of the flower layers, just along their edges.  Next, I stamped the lovely “B” using the Lovely Letters Alphabet and some Black StazOn ink on Whisper White CS.  I punched the “B” out using my 1-1/4″ Circle Punch.  All of these were stuck together using mini glue dots and dimensionals (to attach the “B” to the flowers) and some dimensionals to adhere the flower to the can.  Lastly, I ran my Sticky Strip around the bottom of the can and tied some yummy 1/2″ Melon Mambo Polka-Dot Grosgrain ribbon as the final touch.  Behind the can, you’ll see the bag that I altered to match my gift set.  I used some of the Specialty DSP along with my Baroque Motifs stamp set to color coordinate my little white gift bag.  I stamped onto some Whisper White CS cut to fit the front of the bag since it’s easy to stamp on a bag and get areas that don’t stamp due to the creases in the bag.

DSCN8075

This card was a fun one to make.  I used my trusty Big Shot and a new Sizzlet die from the Mini Catalog (pg 21) called Merry Details.  I once again found a use rather than the intended for the product in the Mini Catalog.  This die has some absolutely adorable Christmas trees and a snowflake on it, but I chose to use the little birdie.  I paired it with running some of the Night & Day Specialty DSP through my Big Shot using the Go Go Boots Alphabet dies to create the word “hello”.  Where, you might ask, did I find an epoxy button to match the DSP perfectly?!?!  I made it!!  I used my Crystal Effects to cover a little corner of the DSP and let that dry (overnight – I’m too impatient to sit there and watch it dry for hours) and used my 1″ Circle punch to punch out the “button”.  I attached some Whisper White grosgrain to my button, added it to my 1/2″ Melon Mambo Polka-Dot Grosgrain ribbon treatment that was already already tied onto my Scallop Edge punched Specialty DSP that was adhered to a paper pierced and distressed layer of Whisper White CS for an easy and eye-catching element on my card.  The background of my card is also a piece of the Night & Day Specialty DSP.  Aren’t you just loving it?!?!?

DSCN8069

This last little creation is my favorite.  It’s the first time I used my Matchbox Bigz XL die, and I love this little box.  Did you know that in addition to 10 absolutely fabulous sheets of Designer Series Paper in the Night & Day Specialty DSP pack, you also get TWO sheets of printed window sheets?!?!?  That’s right!!  That’s why they added the word “Specialty” to this gorgeous pack of papers.  As you should be able to see, the clear window sheet in the paper pack was used to make the sleeve for my little matchbox so that my daughter’s teacher could see the sweet little m&m’s waiting for her inside.  I used my Scallop Edge punch on the DSP, and my Eyelet Border punch on the Melon Mambo CS.  Some Whisper White and Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon was also used, in addition to a 5/16″ Jumbo Brad in Whisper White.  The most fun I had though, was creating my layers of flowers.  I used my Big Shot to use 2 of the dies from the Sizzlits 4-Pack of dies called Birds & Blooms.  It is yet another SU! exclusive die.  I also used a sponge and some of that beautiful Frost White Shimmer Paint on each flower that used the Night & Day Specialty DSP.  It turned it a beautiful shade of shimmery Basic Gray.  I just love it and hope her teacher does too!!!  What do you think?

Well, I hope that you enjoyed my projects and were able to follow along with how I made each of them. As usual I would love to hear what you think, and don’t forget to use one of the links to the right to subscribe to my blog for e-mail notification of my new posts.  I have a BIG Boot Loot (aka Blog Candy) contest coming up and subscribers will be the first to know about it! 🙂  Also, don’t forget to start your wish list now to order these fabulous new goodies on September 1st and make sure you check out what Holly has in store for you at Ink Paper Stamps for the next stop on the Hop. Please click on the arrows below to help you find the previous or next participants on the Blog Hop.

Enjoy!!!
